Join State Archeologist Dr. Nicholas Bellantoni as he conducts an authentic archeological dig at the Webb Mountain Discovery Zone in this program appropriate for students entering 4th grade through high school.

The Discovery Zone is home to many authentic historical and archeological sites dating back to times when Native Americans and 17th Century Colonists inhabited the land, through early 20th Century.  Dr. Bellantoni will demonstrate the basic techniques for identifying and preparing a dig site, and then conduct an actual dig to examine and catalog what can be found.

Dr. Bellantoni is head of the Connecticut Archeology Center and State Museum of Natural History at the University of Connecticut in Storrs and has served as Connecticut State Archeologist since 1987.  He has been featured on The History Channel’s program "The Hitler Project" which documents Dr. Bellantoni's travels to Moscow to investigate what was thought to be Adolf Hitler’s remains.

Appropriate for students entering 4th grade through high school.  $15 per participant.  Registration limited to 30 participants. Event is rain or shine.
